JOBS Wanted

Internship in Virginia Beach VA requested

Bruce Wainerby 8 years ago
My name is Bruce Wainer and I am a junior in Landstown High School in Virginia Beach, VA. I am the media director and Vice President of Eagle Television, our in-house television station. We broadcast the daily morning announcements throughout the school. I have done camera work, voice-overs, host/announcer spots, and packages in the last 3 years. My primary job, however is to create our graphics and edit broadcast and export to tape. I am familiar with Photoshop for basic manipulation (using color correction, paths, etc.) and Flash for simple animations, but work primarily in Premiere (editing) and After Effects (2.5D composition).

What I'd like to do:
I want to intern for a company that shoots, edits, and/or delivers any type of video related material. I am especially interested in companies that put on awards shows, business presentations, and the like, or that designs video for the web (through Flash or otherwise). I am interested in both paid and unpaid internships. I don't have my own car yet, so any jobs have to be local and with my parent's approval.

What I can do for you:
I will gladly create animations, edit footage, etc., but I know there's more than the fun stuff that's needs to be done in a business. On the physical side, I am comfortable setting up lighting, microphones and sound systems, and operating cameras, sound boards or on-site video mixers. On the computer, I can clean up images and footage and complete other repetitive tasks when needed. I have a good work ethic and will do whatever is required to complete the project on time and in high quality.

-Earned the Virginia's Workplace Readiness Skills certification (through NOCTI - details)
-IC3 certified (Internet and Computing Core Certification, a assessment of understanding of the internet and computer hardware and software)
-I have used Premiere and After Effects daily for three years in my school and at home (5-10 hours per week)
-Last summer I volunteered with Virginia Beach Television (VBTV) to help film the graduation ceremonies for the public high schools running graphics and monitoring for inappropriate behavior. I also helped film their weekly broadcast, running teleprompter and serving as technical director. (total hours: ~20)

I am currently putting together my demo reel, but I can provide samples on request until I am finished. I am looking for work starting now and lasting until the end of my senior year (about 1.5 years), but will accept any length of time (just this summer, for example). During the school year I can work from 3:00PM until 9:00PM (or close which probably means ~5:00PM) during the week and any time on the weekends. During the summer I can work any hours, although I would prefer some compensation for a full time job during the summer (part time summer jobs excluded).

I look forward to your comments and I hope one or more of you out there needs or can help me. I can be contacted through this forum or at brwainer (at)
