The CNN Design department’s clients include CNN, HLN, Marketing, On Air Promotions, Ad Sales and others. The Creative Director consults with senior department management to assign and assist in strategy, planning, concept and development of multi-platform design needs for our clients.

The Day-to-Day
The Creative Director position is a multifaceted job, providing leadership and design expertise as well as implementing graphic support for on air and online requirements. The Creative Director will work closely with the director and executive director on future planning and long-range goals. This position will drive the image of the brand and develop a cohesive, innovative look and tone for all clients and initiatives across multiple platforms (on air, online, environmental and future new media).

S/he will assess software, graphic systems and other technology for current and future needs and make recommendations based on those needs. S/he will stay abreast of new software and hardware developments so department output remains current, of high quality and cost-effective.
The Creative Director effectively evaluates and manages time, resources and budget availability in conjunction with deadlines to produce desired end product.
S/he directs all aspects of design for our clients' projects (CNN, HLN, Marketing, On Air Promotions, Ad Sales and other entities) including concept, design, art direction and production.
S/he provides strong leadership and manages a design staff (direct reports) and multiple freelancers.
The Creative Director communicates project parameters and overall design goals, supervises project production and progress, evaluates staff on an ongoing basis, supervise and executes yearly reviews.
The Essentials
8 years of television production experience.
2-3 years in management capacity instructing designers, with experience managing and mentoring junior staff.
Knowledge of existing computer systems and software
Knowledge of world news and current events
Design Degree, BFA or equivalent from an accredited Art/Design school or equivalent work experience.
Skilled in After Effects, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator software on the Macintosh platform
