Job Description
Irving Harvey is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time color assistant position. The role of the color assistant is to support color grading operations from ingest to delivery. The color assistant works under the Senior Colorist and fills a variety of roles as necessary for the completion of projects. The ideal candidate is a person with experience in color grading and post production looking to increase their experience and abilities across a huge variety of projects and clients and in a fast-paced professional post production environment. Success in this role can lead to increasing responsibilities as a colorist including supervised, client-oriented work. Duties include:

  • Coordinating drives and digital prep media
  • Communicating with clients to answer prep/workflow questions and ensure project handoff is smooth
  • Managing ingest and server consolidation
  • Conforming edit timeline for color
  • Troubleshooting workflow problems
  • Unsupervised color grading, including first passes, looks application, and mask tracking
  • Keeping projects up to date with edit changes, VFX swaps, etc.
  • Managing and supervising project renders, assuring deliverable specifications are met completely
  • Reconform and QC check of color projects
  • Handling project delivery
  • Preparing projects for archival process
  • Creation of review/submission materials such as Blu-ray discs
  • Coordination with System Administrator to ensure that project data is correctly managed and infrastructure is properly utilized

  • Experience with Da Vinci Resolve and Premiere Pro
  • Familiarity with full Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Avid
  • Knowledge of post production workflow, codecs, framerates, etc.
  • Experience in color grading on technical and creative levels
  • General computer handiness
  • Strong problem solving skills, resourcefulness when it comes to seeking out answers to questions using the internet, reference manuals, etc.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and changing needs
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and attention to detail
  • Team-player attitude
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
