Job Description
The video producer reports to the Director of Digital Strategy and Communications in the Office of Institutional Advancement at UMBC. The producer will imagine, create, and promote multimedia storytelling that builds brand awareness among targeted audiences, illustrating how the University makes a positive impact in the lives of students and the greater community through education, research, and service.

Responsibilities:
The video producer will be responsible for creating timely, tactical content for recruitment, retention, and comprehensive campaign efforts, and will be essential to illustrating the UMBC story across multiple platforms. Specifically, the video producer will:
• Produce and edit videos in accordance with campaign strategy, institutional objectives, and brand standards.
• Assist in defining a strategic content roadmap for video communications to support the University's comprehensive campaign and other branded communications.
• Write video scripts and storyboard video shoots, collaborating with colleagues and other creative professionals as needed.
• Plan, set up, and execute video, lighting, and audio for filming interviews, campus life activities, locations, and b-roll.
• Perform all post-production on video footage, including non-linear editing, audio editing and synching, color correction, titles, and graphics.
• Maintain video equipment.
• Organize and maintain a digital library of video content.
• Produce short videos appropriate for social media promotion—think viral!
• Manage the University's digital presence on YouTube, Vimeo, and other platforms.


Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum of two years of experience in video production, multimedia, cinematography, or a related field required.
• Proficiency in video editing and production software such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier.
• Familiarity with a variety of video styles including feature/short, profile, documentary, and promotional.
• Proven skills in scriptwriting, storyboarding, audio recording, camera operations, lighting, editing, and working with video hosting platforms and streaming media—this person wears many hats.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Familiarity with music licensing and copyright regulations.
• Experience in higher education and advancement campaigns preferred.
• Have a sense of humor and play well with others—collaboration is essential.
