Rocket Science VFX
We are a mid-size visual effects studio based in Toronto. Our team collaborates with high-end live action film and TV clients to design and create compelling stories and images. 3D Animators, Lighters, Matte Painters, Compositors and Coordinator/Managers work directly on the creative issues and storytelling for feature films and feature quality TV series. Our credits include the Resident Evil franchise, Rupture, Dolphin Tale, Hannibal, Hell on Wheels, Killjoys, and The Expanse.

Senior Compositor

Key Duties of the Job:
• Seamlessly integrate 2D, 3D and live action elements with an eye for photorealism and a strong aesthetic sensibility.
• Solve creative and technical problems under tight deadlines and fast turnaround.
• Keying; color grading; tracking; paint; 3D render layer integration, look development, shot finalling.
• Take direction from Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisors; execute compositing tasks based on that direction.
• Determine shot methodology for sequence work.
• Supervise junior employees; work within a collaborative team environment.
• Stay up to date with compositing software and trends.

• NUKE, Photoshop, Shotgun.
• Expert understanding of the Nuke 3D environment and projection mapping.
• Extensive experience with multi pass 3D renders; ability to create a “look”.
• Firm understanding of color space and LUTs
• Knowledge of Maya, Houdini, Mocha, PFTrack are a plus.
• A thorough understanding of both feature film and television VFX production pipelines.
• 5+ years experience in a live-action VFX Environment.

• A professional and friendly manner.
• A strong eye for detail, composition, colour and lighting. An ability to make shots look great.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve.
• A team player with excellent communication skills.

• College Certificate &/or degree in animation/VFX, or applicable industry experience required.

• On site permanent full time and contract work available.
• Minimum 40 hours per week. Overtime and shifted work hours may be required from time to time to meet delivery deadlines.
