Job Description
The Senior Stereo Compositor is experienced in all facets of compositing who has attained the highest level of skill and expertise in the area of compositing. They are very knowledgeable of all of the tools used by our Compositing Department and have an in-depth knowledge of the entire Legend3D pipeline. What differentiates a Senior Stereo Compositor from a Stereo Compositor is that they possess solid communication skills and interpersonal savvy, and are not only able to train others easily, but truly enjoy doing so. The Senior Stereo Compositor is one who takes creative ownership of the artists around him by ensuring his availability to others should they need help, while also producing shots on a daily basis.

The Senior Stereo Compositor may be called upon to fill in for a Lead Compositor in their absence and may also be called upon to lead a team on a project. At the Lead Stereo Compositor’s direction, a Senior Stereo Compositor may task one or more Stereo Compositors to provide assistance on specific tasks of a complicated shot.

The Senior Stereo Compositor reports to the Lead Compositor for all production related tasks and to the Compositing Manager for department administration responsibilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Expert knowledge of Nuke, Mocha Pro, and other software packages to effectively contribute to all stages of compositing.
Consistent output of high quality shots within set bid time and with limited client kickbacks.
Adhere to the creative and technical direction of the Lead Stereo Compositors and Compositing Supervisors.
Share knowledge of new and efficient techniques and procedures with Junior Artists.
Support in training of individual artists based on skill set and the artists’ personal goals.
Competent to support team in the absence of its Lead.
Keep current with changes in workflow and communicate these changes with team members.
Stay current on all advances in the industry, software, and proprietary workflows associated with the Legend production pipeline and general compositing knowledge.
Participate in or complete additional tasks/special projects assigned by the Lead Stereo Compositor or Compositing Manager.
Self-prioritize large queue of work.
Document new techniques and procedures.

Expert knowledge of Rotoscoping and/or After Effects, Nuke, or similar software
Accredited Post-Secondary Artistic Degree or equivalent experience
2+ years Live action Compositing experience on feature films, television, or high end commercial work on a conversion pipeline is required
Stereo Compositing experience is preferred
Understanding of the creative side of 3D conversion is an asset
Ability to problem solve both independently and within a team
Professional knowledge of tools, techniques, and expectations of a compositing pipeline.
Able to work in a Windows (PC) environment
Exemplify a strong work ethic and enthusiastic demeanor to other artists.
Strong time management skills to self-prioritize a queue of work in a production environment
Strong attention to detail regarding precision, color, perspective and motion is an asset
Strong artistic ability and understanding of core artistic concepts such as: animation/movement, color theory, anatomy, and perspective an asset
Strong understanding of film making techniques

Working conditions:
Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position for the majority (up to 90%) of a shift
Must be able to use hands/fingers to operate a computer and other office machinery
Will be working in a low-lit environment, and may be subject to eye strain
