The Office of Communications serves the Agency’s divisions and DES offices throughout the state. The department plays an integral role in providing information to DES stakeholders – including  staff, families, community partners and the media about  programs and services at DES and how they work together to improve outcomes for children and families in Arizona. The Office of Communications handles internal and external strategic communications as well as various information requests from the public, which include national and local media.  The office also provides outreach and awareness on various public service initiatives by the Department of Economic Security.

The Office of Communications is actively seeking a talented and enthusiastic professional for their Lead Videographer/Editor position who is eager to promote the initiatives and mission critical programs by the Department of Economic Security in making Arizona stronger and economically secure. 
The Lead Videographer coordinates the development and production of video content to support the communication needs of DES and will operate as the technical lead on all DES video productions, training/informational videos and a wide range of special events. This position plans, directs, shoots, and edits video and various multi-media productions. Travel is required to perform on-location video recording as well as occasional evening and weekend work.
The position includes, but is not limited to :
Project Management:
Performs all aspects of video production and multi-media projects, including staging, lighting, sound, etc., as required.
Consults with supervisor, clients and communications staff to identify and clarify communications concepts, scope, theme, audio/visual elements, project plans, production schedules, budget, timeline and priorities.
Post Production:
Performs post-production duties for the department consisting of logging video and audio materials, reviews footage, adjusts audio, corrects color issues makes editorial decisions based on input from clients and communications project lead, creates rough cuts for review and approval, assembles a final edited product.
Publishes work to web-based platforms and/or other media as required by project demands.
Works with communications staff to generate graphics and special effects for video post-production.
Technical/ Administrative :
Ensures that all equipment maintenance and repair is carried out and that the equipment is ready for use at all times.
Researches and makes purchase recommendations for video production and post-production equipment and software.
The candidate selected for this role will have knowledge of:
Video production terminology, technical aspects, creative aspects and best practices of professional videography.
Techniques and principals of staging, lighting, audio recording and formatting of studio and location video shoots.
Operating various video and studio equipment safely and competently.
Technical aspects, creative aspects and best practices of professional non-linear editing.
Post-production equipment and software applications.
Applicable State of Arizona regulations, DES mission, goals, policies and procedures.
The candidate selected for this role will be skilled at:
Operating audio and video equipment.
Troubleshooting, basic maintenance and care of professional equipment.
All aspects of video production and editing. Operating computer based non-linear editing and graphic generation/editing software.
Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
The candidate selected for this role will have the ability to:
Communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.
Record situations unobtrusively and without interrupting the flow.
Form and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with management, staff and clients, including professionalism, judgment, and diplomacy.
Make sound work-related decisions.
Operate under deadline constrictions.
Three or more years of professional-level experience in videography in a professional work environment.
