Job Description
The Compositing Supervisoris responsible for integrating multi camera shots into one seamless VR video based on the instructions of the Head of VR and Director. The challenge can include set extension, scene, environment or effect and incorporates digital assets or into VR scenes.
• Duties
Reports to Head of VR.
Based on instructions from the Head of VR and Director, Composes and enhances multiple Cameras to meet quality and story direction.
Utilizes advanced artistic and technical skills to create seamless VR shots.
Follow studio pipeline and workflow standards.
Able to analyze shots and break-down tasks for budgeting hours.
Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets.
Able to composite any type of shot from simple to difficult.
Develops robust solutions and techniques that meet quality / technical direction and fully anticipate future uses. Has a clear vision of how art / technology should function and the ability to lead peers to share this vision.
Inform Project Manager of any additional tasks or priority requests.
Provides feedback and mentor team on work under development.
Report regularly to the Head informing him/her of any concerns or new developments.
Identify and correct problematic areas of the compositing pipeline.
Develop scripts to facilitate the automation of the entire compositing pipeline.
Follow the creative direction of the production from a compositing standpoint as communicated by the Supervisor and Production.
Identify problems that VR compositing could potentially face with respect delivery schedules.
Balancing the creative needs and the technical resources available.
Act as a teacher/mentor to the Junior compositing artists on the production to help promote the growth of in-house talent.
Maintain a methodical clear system of naming conventions, directory structures and file retrieval.
Utilizes artistic and technical skills to create seamless VR content.
Able to composite multiple Cameras from simple to difficult.
• Qualifications
At least 6+ years experience in compositing digital VFX for film.
Advanced demonstrated knowledge and production experience in Nuke.
Must have strong knowledge of compositing workflow and the compositing application.
Must have strong attitude for technical workflow challenges such as directory structure, file formats, naming conventions, scripts, automation tools, automated dailies, etc.
Experience with complex matte extractions and motion tracking.
